The City of Houston has recently imposed a rate increase for water purchased by the District, effective April 1. This is the latest in a series of rate increases by the City of Houston over the several years that the District has had to purchase at least 80% of its requirements from the City of Houston. At this time, the District does not foresee passing on a rate increase to the residents of Fondren Park.
The District is pleased to announce that the new power generators at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and at Water Plant #2 have been installed, tested, and are near final inspection. These substantial capital additions to the District's facilities should well protect the supply of water and of treatment in the conditions of loss of power from our regular supplier during times of storms and other prolonged outages.
In addition to these stationary generators, the District also has a new portable generator which can be moved around in emergency situations to provide power to Water Plant #1, and to the lift stations, as needed.
Therefore, the District is now equipped to be able to provide water and waste treatment even in the event of major power outages.
