City Solicits Input on Grant Funds Allocation
Posted on Feb 10th, 2012

Also during the public hearing, a pre-application workshop will be held for subrecipient agencies who are interested in requesting CDBG funding. These community programs provide direct services to  individuals and families; examples of such businesses include after-school  childcare providers and counseling and nutrition programs.

The overall goals of the national CDBG program are as  follows:
  • Improving  the urban environment in low and moderate income areas;
  • Eliminating blighting influences and the deterioration of property, neighborhoods and public  facilities in low and moderate-income areas; and
  • Ensuring decent, safe, sanitary housing for low and moderate-income residents

Cities that receive CDBG monies must allocate at least 71 percent of funds for activities that benefit low-  and moderate-income individuals such as rehabilitation of owner-occupied  housing and infrastructure improvements.

In addition to discussing the CDBG program, residents will also participate in a forum on fair housing and related issues.

Citizens unable to attend the  public hearing are encouraged to mail their comments to: City of Missouri City Development Services Department, Attention: Nancy Desobry, 1522 Texas Pkwy., Missouri City, Texas, 77489 or fax them to 281-208-5551.  Comments should be mailed or faxed before March 9.
